David Tuckett mixes psychoanalytic clinical practice with academic work. He is visiting professor and director of the Institute of New Economic Thinking’s Emotional Finance Project in the Psychoanalysis Unit within the Brain Sciences faculty at University College London (UCL). David is a fellow of the British Institute of Psychoanalysis and has won the Sigourney Award for Psychoanalysis. Formerly, he served as editor of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis and president of the European Psychoanalysis Federation. At the Middlesex Hospital Medical School (University of London), David introduced behavioral sciences into medical education and was later principal of the Health Education Studies Unit at the University of Cambridge. He is author of Minding the Markets: An Emotional Finance View of Financial Instability. David first trained in economics at King’s College, Cambridge, and then undertook further training in medical sociology and psychoanalysis.
