Career Resources

A critical component of FIASI’s mission is helping its members further their careers through a variety of the following initiatives.

By linking businesses and seasoned professionals. A current list of job postings can be found here (you must be logged in to access).

Networking events such as the monthly Speaker Series meetings, which provide a forum for targeted networking opportunities, allowing professionals to broaden their connections in a non-competitive, collegial atmosphere.

Informal mentoring arrangements. Seasoned FIASI members frequently make themselves available to guide the next generation of professionals. Mentors outside of a member’s firm are particularly useful to gain unbiased perspectives.

Social networking. By sponsoring LinkedIn discussions, promoting the real-time sharing of ideas and development of relationships without geographical restrictions.

Fostering careers in Fixed Income

At FIASI, we are dedicated to fostering careers in fixed income by engaging and empowering students and young individuals through our programing and networking opportunities. In this way, we hope to inspire the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed.

Our Initiatives Include:

1. Educational programming

We offer a variety of in-person programs led by industry experts that cover a wide range of topics designed to be engaging and informative. Recent programs, for example, include Credit Markets in Transition and Climate Change Risk Modeling that took place during Climate Week NYC. These provide invaluable guidance, support, and networking opportunities, helping young individuals to navigate their career paths with confidence.

2. Research competition

In collaboration with Fordham University’s Center for Research in Contemporary Finance and the O’Shea Center for Credit Analysis and Investment, we sponsor an annual research competition. This co-branded competition invites undergraduate and post-graduate students to submit their ongoing original research on the topic of investing and innovations in sustainable finance in fixed income or related markets. The primary purpose of the competition is to raise awareness and highlight the importance of integrating relevant and material Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)-based factors into investment decisions in the fixed income markets as a research area, address challenges and opportunities associated with the deployment of new technologies and solutions to solve vital sustainability business challenges, and to gain more visibility for and encourage conversations among students, academics, practitioners as well as other stakeholders.

3. Membership

FIASI sponsors frequent, high quality Educational Programs and Workshops covering topics of current interest to research analysts, portfolio managers and other fixed income professionals. Attendance is free for members. We invite and encourage students and young members to join FIASI through preferential membership arrangements.
