Julie Remache is Deputy SOMA Manager and Head of Market and Portfolio Analysis on the Open Market Trading Desk in the Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Remache oversees work related to the management and analysis of the System Open Market Account (SOMA) portfolios, as well as analysis and reporting on developments in financial markets. She also works closely with the SOMA manager to implement monetary policy as directed by the Federal Open Market Committee.
Remache has more than 20 years of central banking experience and has held several leadership positions within the New York Fed. She is an expert in financial markets and on monetary policy implementation and foreign reserve management. She has extensive experience designing and implementing policy tools to manage and expand the balance sheet. She also played an extensive role in the implementation of policy actions to expand the balance sheet and provide liquidity in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Global Financial Crisis. Remache has also published research in this area.
Previously, Remache worked has experience in investment management bank interest rate risk and liquidity management.
Remache holds a masters degree in economics from Boston University, as well as bachelor’s degrees in math and economics also from Boston University.
