Matt Noll founded IOn Capital Advisors in 2013 to provide financial services firms advisory on risk management, corporate and commercial credit, economic capital modeling and credit ratings. In 2016, IOn began working to form the U.S. footprint of Parker Fitzgerald, a U.K. risk advisory firm founded in 2009.
Matt has covered the financial services sectors for 16 years, serving as a banker, ratings analyst and advisor. As Morgan Stanleys lead financial institutions credit rating advisor following the financial crisis, Matt advised over 100 issuers contemplating M&A, restructurings balance sheet optimizations, term loan borrowings, and first-time bond issues. He provided consulting services to Kroll Bond Rating Agency in its effort to expand its coverage of bond insurers following Morgan Stanley. Most recently, he covered the Americas financial institutions sectors for Fitch Ratings, publishing high volume commentaries on banks, non-bank financials and insurers.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Matt served as a lead analyst at Moodys Investors Service, covering the bond insurance and asset management sectors, specializing in capital adequacy measurement, liquidity risk, corporate governance and structuring, and macro credit issues. Matt provided rating recommendations on 25 issuers per year leading up to and through the financial crisis. He published extensively while at Moodys, including jointly developing two rating methodologies for investment managers and authoring analysis used by issuers seeking new ratings and corporate transformations.
Matt served in the U.S. Navy submarine force prior to earning his MBA at the NYU Stern School of Business. He holds a B.S. in Applied Physics from the University of Notre Dame. He is a CFA Charterholder and anticipates completing the Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF) program in 2017.
