06-11-14 Economists from High Frequency Economics

Description:

Guest Speaker:

Carl B. Weinberg, Chief Economist:

Trouble On Top Of Trouble In Europe

While the U.S. Economy continues to improve, the economies of the Euro Zone continue to atrophy.  HFE's Chief Economist Carl Weinberg will talk about the credit crunch in Euroland and how banking sector woes are being translated into a bona fide economic depression.  At the margin, Carl will add, the Ukraine's likely insolvency poses new threats to European banks, and economic war with Russia may lead to other undesired consequences in the Euro Zone.

Jim O'Sullivan, Chief U.S. Economist:

U.S. Recovery: Improving With Age

Jim will discuss the U.S. economic and policy outlook.  He believes the downtrend in the unemployment rate represents legitimate labor market improvement and will continue, that wage gains will start accelerating soon, and that the policy focus will increasingly turn to how quickly the Fed will be raising interest rates over the next few years.
