Kim Wales is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of CrowdBureau Corporation, which benchmark and score marketplace peer-to-peer lending performance and monitor emerging trends, while serving as a key source of research, data analysis, asset and risk management tools for the worlds peer-to-peer lending sector.
Kim is considered an industry pioneer on the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act, 2012, an author, and an Adjunct Professor at City College of New York since the Fall 2015 teaching a class on Entrepreneurship: Women and Diversity in the economics department and cross listed with women studies and black studies programs.
Kim’s work has helped to influence and shape the final rules for the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act 2012, being cited over 100 times in the final rules for Titles III and IV. She also contributed to the securities based crowdfunding frameworks adopted by Canada, Taiwan and the European Commissions green paper. Kim has been an advocate, and lobbyist on behalf of the securities based crowdfunding industry (equity and debt) working alongside other industry thought leaders since 2012 with the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, the European Commission, and several other leading international organizations for small – emerging companies to allow capital formation using online digital platforms for securities-based crowdfunding while ensuring investor protections.
Kim is the author of “Peer-to-Peer Lending and Equity Crowdfunding: A Guide to the New Capital Markets for Job Creators, Investors and Entrepreneurs,” (©2018 ABC-CLIO – Praeger).
She is a Board Member of the City College Fund, a Board Member of the City College Center for the Performing Arts, and Board of Advisor Member of the Zahn Innovation Center. She is a member of the Heritage Foundation Securities Regulation Working Group.
From 1995 – 2012, running an independent boutique consulting firm, her clients included Chase Manhattan Bank, Prudential, Morgan Stanley, Butterfield Bank (BNTB), DTCC, SIAC, and others in the USA and 9 offshore jurisdictions.
