Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
Monday, November 13, 2023
PRESENT: Monica Aggarwal, Jessica Broughton, Joyce Chang, Erin Lyons, Pawel Mosakowski, Robert Slowko, Mariarosa Verde, Diane Vazza, Lauren Nauser

Welcome Remarks (Erin Lyons)
Outlined topic discussions for the meeting, including:
- Now that the successful HOF for 2023 is over, the need to begin planning for 2024
- WIFI event scheduled for February
- Other upcoming events
- Potentially adding another board member; mentioned that Monic Erikson had reached out
Acceptance of Minutes from 9/19/23
Lauren Nauser called for, and a motion was made by Mariarosa Verde, with a second by Diane Vazza, to accept and approve the minutes as written.
Treasurer’s Report (Pawel Mosakowski)
- The financials of FIASI look good; bolstered by the $141,000 net income form the HOF
- Review of the P&L statement
- Total income down about $60K vs. YAG primarily related to $70K in outstanding invoices
- Assets up from $497K YAG to $580K in October 2023
- Pawel made a recommendation and motion to take up to $100K in cash savings and shift to Vanguard US Treasury money market fund. Monica Aggarwal seconded the motion; passed unanimously
- Erin Lyons made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report; Jessica Broughton 2nd; accepted as presented
Holiday Party (Lauren Nauser)
- Schedule for 12/6/23 @6PM at Cornell Club
- Glenn Reynolds to speak
Muni Event (Lauren Nauser)
- Currently scheduled for early January
- Dan Fuss and Chris Goodkind to speak
Programming Committee Update (Lauren Nauser)
- Committee has met several times and the big take-away is they are looking for volunteers to take ownership of specific events
- Lauren and Henry Shilling will be meeting with Fordham University to discuss competition related to ESG Event
- Current dates for ESG in consideration are 4/17 and 4/18, and 5/1 and 5/2
- Joyce Chang later mentioned that IMF World Meeting are scheduled for 4/16-4/19; therefore 5/1 and 5/2 are most likely dates for the conference
WIFI Update (Joyce Chang)
- Joyce reiterated that the NY Fed has agreed to host the entire event, including use of their large auditorium, and provide the cocktail reception at no cost to FIASI. Tours of the museum and gallery will be available to attendees beginning at 2PM
- Michelle Neal of the NY Fed will be the keynote speaker; waiting on confirmation of who will interview her
- Working on finalizing speakers and moderators for panel
- Ellen Zentner, Chief US Economist of Morgan Stanley (tentative yes)
- Julie Remarche was invited last year but could not make it
- Sarah Devereux (Kay Herr would be a back up if Sarah cannot make it)
- Joyce asked for input on Nancy Zimmerman of Bracebridge-has not been invite yet
- Pawel Mosakowski suggested Nancy Davis of Quadratic Capital, and it was agreed he would reach out to her before Joyce approached Nancy Zimmerman
- Mariarosa will reach out to Paloma Bima at Moody’s
- Joyce has had discussion with and hopes to invite Mary Daly (of SF Fed) to host a 2nd WIFI program in the future that can serve as a fundraiser/sponsored event
Bretton Woods Conference (Joyce Chang)
- Offered up to 25 FIASI members to attend conference free of charge. Lauren to send out note to membership—responses due by 11/24
ESG Discussion (ALL)
- Monica Aggarwal suggested that before inviting speakers or setting agenda the Board should begin to line up sponsors for the event. Jessica Broughton agreed it is difficult to go back once speakers/line-ups set
- Group discussed and agreed on the following sponsorship levels:
- $7500 Platinum Sponsorship includes speaker
- $5000 Gold Sponsorship does not include speaker
- Erin Lyons and Jessica Broughton agreed to work with Henry Shilling on sponsorships; Lauren will do the leg work
2024 Preliminary Discussions re Hall of Fame (ALL)
- Original recommended dates 10/16, 10/17, 10/22, 10/23, 10/29, 10/30
- Joyce Chang offered that IMF Fall World Meetings 10/22-10/25 knocking out that week
- Group agreed on 10/16 and 10/17-with gives time in September to sell tables
- Lauren Nauser will send Erin and Jessica names of those on prior nominating committee to ensure we get a good balance of monetary/academic candidates
- Jessica reminded we need candidates for Rising Star Award
- Pawel suggested we reach out to Hilary Korman of State Street Advisors, has expressed interest in learning more about FIASI, and she may have budgets to support
FIASI Logo Discussion (ALL)
- After much discussion it was agreed that #2 logo design with the more modern logo/traditional individual event fonts in a dark blue (maritime navy) with gold
501 C 3 Discussion (ALL)
- Will need to hire a lawyer and professional auditor ($6-8K per year) once we hit $1MM in revenue
- Will make selling tables easier due to additional restrictions at firms
Social Media Videos
Jessica Broughton brought up idea of posting videos to social media. Need to tap into the marketing committee for input
